ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE
AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Land Drainage Improvement Works (Amended) Regulations 1999 SI 1999/1783
Bude Flood Alleviation Scheme
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on River Neet in Bude.
This improvement work comprises reinstating the embankment to the south of the Crescent Car Park between National Grid Reference SS2085406142 to SS2074706109 (approximately 0.1 kilometres) to a minimum of a two meter crest width to restore the condition of the existing Flood Alleviation Scheme asset.
Further works are also proposed comprising the construction of the Ergue Gaberic Way flood wall. Planning permission will be sought for these works, and these works involve building a flood wall along Ergue-Gaberic Way between National Grid Reference SS2080506406 and SS2088306188 (approximately 0.2 kilometres) to restore the condition of the existing Flood Alleviation Scheme asset. This flood wall will be constructed to the rear west side of the existing embankment and to the same height. These works will also include a stoplog at Nanny Moore’s Bridge (National Grid Reference SS2080406411).
The work is required to ensure the resilience of the defences and to ensure the assets will continue to provide the design level of protection.
Having regard to the nature, size and location of the improvement works, and having considered the potential significant effects on the environment, the Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them.
Due to recent government restrictions, should you wish to view any supporting documents, such as environmental reports or survey information please write to the Project Manager (details below) so arrangements can be made to send this out to you.
Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
