(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles) Order 2022

(Snowdrop Valley Events 2022 and 2023)

Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary prohibition of vehicles as detailed in the Schedule below. The Order will be made to facilitate the 2022 and 2023 Snowdrop Valley Events and is in the interest of public safety.

The Order shall come into operation on the 21st day of January 2022 on the roads and times as specified in the Schedule and will remain in force for eighteen months. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles, residents and vehicles associated with the event.

Schedule

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

(between the hours of 0830 and 1700 from Tuesday 1st February 2022 until Sunday 27th February 2022) and (between the hours of 0830 and 1700 on Saturday 28th January 2023 until Sunday 26th February 2023)

Drapers Way, Minehead – From its junction with the B3224 (Dunkery Road) at Blagdon Cross to its junctions with the A396 Cutcombe Hill and the A396 Timberscombe to Cutcombe Hill.

Steart Lane, Minehead – From its junction with the A396 (Cutcombe Hill) to its junction with Drapers Way.

Statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
