Temporary Closure of Hawkcombe and Parsons Street

Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Hawkcombe from outside the property named Highercombe northwards for 175 metres leading into Parsons Street, northwards for a distance of 208 metres. A total distance of 383 metres. This Order will enable BT Openreach to carry out underground transfer to plant works.

The Order becomes effective on 29th April 2022 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 4th May 2022 and last until 4th May 2022 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 1 day.

Statement of Reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
