NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY

PUBLIC FOOTPATH WL17/2 (PART) &

PUBLIC FOOTPATH WL17/14

PARISH OF OARE

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2022

The above order, made on 29th July 2022 under Section

119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert:

Part of public footpath WL17/2 starting from its junction with

the County Road approximately 155 metres east-north-east

of Malmsmead Bridge, point A on the proposal plan, and

running in a generally south-westerly direction for

approximately 116 metres, crossing 2 field boundaries to a

point approximately 115 metres due south-east of

Malmsmead Bridge, point B on the proposal plan. A total

distance of 116 metres. To a route starting from its junction

with the County Road approximately 155 metres eastnorth-

east of Malmsmead Bridge, point A on the proposal

plan, and running in a generally southerly direction

following a track, passing through a gate next to a cattle

grid at point K and continuing in a generally south-westerly

direction for 128 metres to a point approximately

115 metres due south-east of Malmsmead Bridge, point B

on the proposal plan. A total distance of 128 metres.

AND

Part of public footpath WL17/2 starting from a point

approximately 247 metres north-north-west of Badgeworthy

Cottage, point C on the proposal plan, and running in a

south-south-easterly direction for approximately

220 metres, crossing 4 field boundaries to a point

approximately 33 metres north-west of Badgeworthy

Cottage, point D on the proposal plan. A total distance of

220 metres. To a route starting from a point approximately

247 metres north-north-west of Badgeworthy Cottage, point

C on the proposal plan, and running in a southerly direction

for approximately 47 metres following a track to point J.

From point J, the footpath continues in a south-southeasterly

direction continuing to follow the track for

177 metres to a point approximately 33 metres north-west

of Badgeworthy Cottage, point D on the proposal plan.

A total distance of 224 metres.

AND

Part of public footpath WL17/2 starting from a point

approximately 142 metres due north of Cloud Farmhouse,

point E on the proposal plan, and running in a south-southwesterly

direction for approximately 123 metres, crossing

2 field boundaries to a point approximately 21 metres northnorth-

west of Cloud Farmhouse, point F on the proposal

plan. A total distance of 123 metres. To a route starting

from a point approximately 142 metres due north of Cloud

Farmhouse, point E on the proposal plan, and running in a

generally southerly direction following a track for 80 metres

to point M. From point M, the footpath turns to run in a

generally south-westerly direction continuing to follow a

track for 21 metres to point N. From point N, the footpath

continues in a west-south-westerly direction for 25 metres

to a point approximately 21 metres north-north-west of

Cloud Farmhouse, point P on the proposal plan. A total

distance of 186 metres.

AND

Part of public footpath WL17/2 starting from a point

approximately 255 metres east-north-east of Badgeworthy

Cottage, point H on the proposal plan, and running in a

generally east-south-easterly and then south-easterly

direction for approximately 258 metres, crossing 2 field

boundaries to a point approximately 478 metres due west

of Badgeworthy Cottage, point J on the proposal plan.

A total distance of 258 metres. To a route starting from a

point approximately 255 metres east-north-east of

Badgeworthy Cottage, point H on the proposal plan, and

running in a generally easterly direction for 73 metres

following a track to a gate at point S. From point S, the

footpath continues in a generally east-south-easterly

direction continuing to follow a track for 168 metres,

passing through a gate at point T to point U. At point U, the

footpath turns to run in a generally southerly direction for

48 metres following a track to a point approximately

478 metres due west of Badgeworthy Cottage, point J on

the proposal plan. A total distance of 289 metres.

AND

Part of public footpath WL17/14 starting from a point

approximately 21 metres north-north-west of Cloud

Farmhouse, point F on the proposal plan, and running in a

generally westerly direction for approximately 75 metres to

a point approximately 83 metres west-north-west of Cloud

Farmhouse on the Devon County boundary, point G on the

proposal plan. A total distance of 75 metres. To a route

starting from a point 45 metres due north of Cloud

Farmhouse, point N on the proposal plan, and running in a

west-south-westerly direction and then a south-westerly

direction following a track for 37 metres to point Q. From

point Q, the footpath continues in a generally westerly

direction at first continuing to follow a track and then a path

for 48 metres to reach a footbridge and the County

Boundary with Devon and it’s junction with public footpath

211FP6, point R on the proposal plan. A total distance of

85 metres.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed

and may be seen free of charge at Dulverton National Park

Centre, 7 - 9 Fore Street, Dulverton, TA22 9EX from 10am

to 5pm, open seven days a week, or viewed on the Exmoor

National Park Authority website – search for ‘Changes to

the Path Network’. Copies of the order and map may be

bought from the address below at the price of £3.

Any representations about or objections to the order may

be sent in writing to the Chief Executive, Exmoor National

Park Authority, Exmoor House, Dulverton, Somerset, TA22

9HL to be received no later than 26th August 2022. Please

state the grounds on which they are made. Copies of

any objections or representations received may be

circulated to interested parties.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or

if any so made are withdrawn, the Exmoor National Park

Authority may confirm the order as an unopposed order. If

the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the

Environment, Food & Rural Affairs for confirmation, any

representations or objections which have not been

withdrawn will be sent with the order.
